Do you have a project you’d like to propose, or a potential concept for consideration? Share your idea here!
Whether your project is ready for implementation or just at the beginning stages of conception, we can help! For ideas in need of development and guidance or those with a fully developed plan, please submit an idea. Before you start your submission, you may want to review the List of Questions so you can understand all the elements we’re looking for, as well as how to best prepare your responses.
Your submission will be reviewed and scored by the ComEd Customer Innovation team. You can find high-level scoring criteria below. If your idea passes initial review, you will be asked to submit a full proposal for final review.
Submission Process
What happens to my submission?
Once you submit your idea through the online form, you will receive a confirmation email that we received your submission. After completing our review, which will take approximately four to six weeks, we will contact you and explain any potential next steps.
If the submission passes the first screening process, it will either be expedited for priority review or be added to the list of submissions for our annual planning review.
Annual Planning Review
As part of the annual planning process, the Customer Innovation team will review and complete a second screening of all submitted ideas and proposals that have passed the initial screening, and will select those that best align with focus area need and that score highest against the scoring criteria. Customer Innovation will follow up with each organization to share the decision and will request full proposals for approved ideas.
If a full proposal is requested, we will provide a full proposal template and scoring criteria for that step. Once the proposal is submitted, ComEd team members and subject matter experts will be assigned to review and score it. At that time the team will decide whether to approve, deny or request more information and the decision will be shared with you.
Submit an Idea
Fill out the form below to submit your idea. Your entries may not be saved if you leave the session and come back to them later, so it’s recommended that you have your responses prepared.
A high-quality submission will clearly:
- Define the project scope and expected outcomes, including how it will be researched, substantiated or achieved.
- Explain how the subject technology or technology deployment tool/method are different from current technologies or technology deployment tools/methods, including why this project is different from any past and present research on the technology. The submission should provide energy, carbon or demand reduction estimates, with explanations or references for calculations and data.
- Explain how the project will be executed, including identifying critical partners, and describing a clear path for completing the project and deliverables within the estimated budget and timeframe.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the market for the technology or technology deployment method the project will focus on, including barriers to adoption, relevant industry, size of industry in ComEd’s territory, etc. as well as feasible paths to engage the market.
- As appropriate given the project type, establish a market and/or a direction for ComEd to take to continue researching the technology or designing incentives for customer adoption.
Beneficial electrification (transportation) ideas will also be evaluated according to these screening criteria.
