To understand and evaluate the feasibility of using the capabilities inherent in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to act as a submeter for utility billing purposes.
Participant Characteristics
This pilot recruited 20 residential customers who had also participated in the Electric Vehicle Charger and Installation Rebate Program. For the commercial and industrial sector three customers were obtained providing ten EVSE charger locations.
Pilot Status
Following the discovery of significant discrepancies between EVSE consumption data and actual KWh usage in earlier findings, Resource Innovations has conducted a second round of data analysis. A near final draft report was released earlier this month, and the final report is scheduled for delivery by the end of this month. The official closure of this pilot is expected by mid-December 2025.
Expected Outcomes
Validate the accuracy of EVSE charger equipment to act as a billing-grade energy use data source for ComEd.
