Submetering

Pilot Objective

To understand and evaluate the feasibility of using the capabilities inherent in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to act as a submeter for utility billing purposes.

Participant Characteristics

This pilot recruited 20 residential customers who had also participated in the Electric Vehicle Charger and Installation Rebate Program. For the commercial and industrial sector three customers were obtained providing ten EVSE charger locations.

Pilot Status

Residential customers have completed and submitted all post surveys. All residential Geotab data collection devices have been uninstalled and turned in. Preliminary data analysis has been completed for residential participants. Data review continues for C&I customers. A draft report is nearing completion pending aforementioned data analyses.

Expected Outcomes

Validate the accuracy of EVSE charger equipment to act as a billing-grade energy use data source for ComEd.
