To understand and evaluate the feasibility of using the capabilities inherent in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to act as a submeter for utility billing purposes.
Participant Characteristics
This pilot recruited 20 residential customers who had also participated in the Electric Vehicle Charger and Installation Rebate Program. For the commercial and industrial sector three customers were obtained providing nearly a dozen EVSE charger locations.
Pilot Status
All 20 residential customers have been decommissioned from the pilot and data analysis is currently underway. Post-surveys are being distributed to customers and device collection is still in progress. Final participation incentives are being distributed. Data collection for two C&I customers has completed and data analysis has begun. ComEd is waiting on another C&I customer to sign pilot terms and conditions before starting their data analysis.
Expected Outcomes
Validate the accuracy of EVSE charger equipment to act as billing-grade energy use data sources for ComEd.
